Megan Kemple

Drama Therapist

Megan Kemple is a spoken-word poet, teaching artist, and drama therapist graduating NYU Steinhardt in September 2021. She was trained in Project REAL (Reinforcing Education through Artistic Learning) through Barter Theatre, and currently teaches at The Door: A Center for Alternatives in NYC. She earned her B.F.A. in Theatre Performance from Niagara University in 2013. She is a decorated slam poet coming in 3rd place at the Rookie Slam at the National Poetry Slam in 2017, and 3rd place in the NUPIC Slam at the 2018 National Poetry Slam, where her team, Pure Ink, also placed in the top ten teams nationally. She has been published in The Drama Therapy Review, Buffalo Spree, and multiple anthologies. Her first chapbook, American Blasphemies, was released through Ghost City Press (2017), and was subsequently staged as an immersive dance piece. Her plays have been professionally produced by Buffalo United Artists, ART of WNY, and her alma mater. She is passionate about using poetry, movement, and drama therapy to holistically process trauma, and looks forward to becoming a Licensed Certified Art Therapist.
