Cody Renard Richard

Stage Manager

Cody Renard Richard is a professional Stage Manager with a career that spans many genres including Broadway, Television, Cirque Du Soleil and Opera.

On Broadway, he has worked as a full time and substitute Stage Manager on many productions. Broadway credits include: Freestyle Love Supreme, Hamilton, Dear Evan Hansen, The Lion King, Cirque du Soleil’s Paramour, Kinky Boots, If/Then, After Midnight, Motown the Musical, Ghost the Musical, Cyrano de Bergerac and Lysistrata Jones. Cody has also served as one of the DGA Stage Managers for the 2019 Tony Awards, 2019 MTV Video Music Awards, Jesus Christ Superstar Live!, Hairspray Live! and The Wiz Live!. For Cirque du Soleil, he has stage managed the North American Tour of OVO and Wintuk at Madison Square Garden. Cody has also worked on countless shows in Regional and Off-Broadway houses, some favorites include: The Metropolitan Opera’s production of Porgy and Bess (Assistant Stage Director), Carnegie Hall, The Kennedy Center, NY City Center Encores!, The Public Theatre, The Muny, Theatre Under the Stars, Williamstown Theatre Festival, Alley Theatre and The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis.

In addition to his production credits, he has served as Adjunct Professor of Stage Management at Fordham University and has been a guest Lecturer at Yale School of Drama, New York University, Columbia University, Ithaca College, SUNY Purchase and Hofstra University.

As an advocate for change and equity, Cody has appeared live on CNN and has been interviewed on WNBC. He actively works with Broadway Advocacy Coalition, among other organizations, and continues to lend his voice to various panels and roundtables whenever possible. Earlier this year, Cody founded the Cody Renard Richard Scholarship Program which aims to work with the next generation of BIPOC theatrical creatives and leaders.

Cody has been nominated for 3 DGA (Director’s Guild Association) Awards and is the recipient of the 2020 Webster University’s Young Alumni Award. He can also be seen in the documentary We are Freestyle Love Supreme following the evolution the Broadway production of Freestyle Love Supreme.

Cody holds a BFA in Stage Management from Webster Conservatory, where he graduated with departmental honors and is a proud member of Actors’ Equity Association and the Directors Guild of America.
